The Podcast

Credibur founder Nicolas Kipp was Michele Mattei's guest on episode 52 of Builders in Fintech, released on 15 September 2026. The series interviews fintech founders and VC operators about what they are building and what broke on the way there.

The episode is titled "Building trust in fintech". That is the position Credibur sits in: between originators and the capital providers funding them. The arrangement only works if both sides can rely on the same numbers.

What They Covered

The first part is biographical. Nicolas talks through the ups and downs of launching a fintech, what it takes to sell one to a large player, and what the period after an exit looks like in practice. Before Credibur he co-founded Banxware and was Chief Risk Officer at Ratepay, so the comparison between building a lender and building the infrastructure behind lenders comes up directly.

They also compare being an investor with being a founder. Nicolas does both, which keeps the trade-offs concrete.

The second half moves to the market: where fintech stands today, the concept of context finance, and how the venture capital landscape has changed since the last cycle.

Context

Credibur runs the operational layer for debt facilities between non-bank lenders and institutional capital providers: calculation agent, verification agent, reporting agent and backup servicer. Most of what Nicolas describes in the episode comes from building and funding lenders before moving to the infrastructure side.
